Angles Steps

Angels Steps

1. Register with us online and complete our Pre-approval application to see if you meet all the criteria of becoming a Surrogate Angel. Once accepted, you will continue moving forward with the complete application, to create your online profile for our database. If for any reason your preapproval application is pending or rejected, one of our coordinators will contact you directly to discuss further.
2. Once your application has been reviewed, and preliminary qualifications are met, prospective egg donor will meet with an egg donor coordinator in-person or via our video conferencing system; for an interview. Yvision will begin requesting all necessary documents for your acceptance into our program. Your coordinator will review all required documents and prescreening information to ensure you are prepared to begin the next steps in your prescreenings.
3. Medical screening will be done by an infertility specialist who is knowledgeable in the field of third party reproduction. Your screening will include a thorough examination that involves a physical and lab testing for sexually transmitted diseases. You are also screened for certain viruses that can seriously affect the health of an unborn child. A urine drug screen is also performed to detect the presence of certain prescription and illegal drugs. Once your test results are received, your husband/partner is also sent for screening which includes Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, HTLV-1, Syphilis, and a urine drug screen. All billing for this medical screening will be sent directly to YVISION. You are not expected to pay for lab tests or medical charges. Surrogate mothers are also screened through an intensive and lengthy interviewing process, on site home visits, and independent psychological testing.
4. Once you and your couple have agree to help one another, we have an official “match”. It is at this time that your couple goes for their medical screening. When your couple joined the program several months before meeting you, they tested for HIV and Hepatitis C. Now they must take these tests again along with Hepatitis B, HTLV-1, Syphilis, Herpes, Blood type and RH, and cultures for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and bacterial infection. A urine drug screen is also performed. Your medical results, along with your couple’s, are reviewed by the fertility specialist. Medical procedures can only begin once all testing is completed.
5. We can now proceed with legal! It is critical that all parties to a surrogacy agreement have an opportunity to properly evaluate the risks involved and the possible legal ramifications arising from their decision to pursue surrogate parenting. Since the medical bills will be in the name of the surrogate mother, it is important that the contract protect her and her family against any claims arising from unpaid bills. It is also very important that the Intended Parents are recognized as the legal parents to the child and therefore all medical bills incurred by the child. Comprehensive and sophisticated contracts should be executed prior to entering into a surrogacy arrangement. These issues are critical, as misunderstanding the law could result in criminal penalties! The surrogacy contract covers a myriad of critical legal and logistical issues, including the issue of custody of the child, establishing parental rights, methods of payment to the surrogate mother, medical assurances, physical and psychological evaluations of all the parties, and the possible selective reduction of multiple pregnancy.
6. Pregnancy and beyond! Yvision will be with you every step of the way, from your embryo transfer and up until the delivery of the baby(ies). We accompany all Giving Angel Surrogate Mothers on their medical appointments throughout, as well as handle all necessary documentation to help prepare for delivery. Our hands on approach will allow you the opportunity to truly enjoy every moment of the life changing journey. Our goal is to create a stress free environment throughout the entirety of your journey.

Medical Overview

Medical Overview

You will be guided through the medical protocol by the fertility specialize and our medical coordinator. In Vitro Fertilization: The goal in third party IVG is to correctly time the medical procedures with you and your couple. Your main contact will be with the IVF Nurse Coordinator, because you will be monitored closely by your fertility specialist. He will use medications, blood tests and ultrasounds to determine the time of embryo transfer. At the same time, the specialist will use medication to stimulate the egg donor to produce about 12 to 15 eggs. Two days before your transfer, the doctor will aspirate the eggs from the mother, fertilize them and incubate them for two days. The transfer itself involves a slim flexible catheter inserted through your cervix into your uterus. Two to four embryos are transferred, and you must go on bed rest for two days to help implantation. You will continue to be on medication for several weeks should pregnancy occur.

Compensation

Compensation

The amount of compensation a Giving Angel Surrogate Mother receives, has several factors to consider. To provide you a better idea of what to expect to be paid during your surrogacy journey, we have listed a few details of what’s considered when negotiating your compensation amount.
The average base pay for a first time surrogate can range between $35-45k, and the money is paid in monthly installments throughout the entirety of your journey, once you have signed contracts with your prospect parents. For many surrogates, this compensation allows them to move toward a financial, educations, or familial goal. For example, many women may utilize their compensation to put a down payment on a new home, assist with paying off their student loans & other debt, continue their education, or even begin a savings account for their children’s education and more.
In choosing to become a surrogate, you are giving your time and effort to help another family come into existence. You shouldn’t be required to give financially, too, which is why your chosen intended parents will cover your expenses throughout the process.
As a surrogate, all of your expenses will be covered by the intended parents — everything from your screening costs to your medical procedures to your legal expenses. In addition, you’ll receive a monthly payment that covers your pregnancy-related costs. Your base compensation, will be decided upon early in the surrogacy process and outlined in your legal contract.

The monthly allowance that you’ll receive will usually cover:

  •   Local travel for doctor’s appointments
  •   Meals
  •   Telephone calls
  •   Prenatal vitamins and other health supplies
  •   Insurance co-pays
  •   And other miscellaneous pregnancy expenses

In addition to these pregnancy-related expenses, you’ll also receive surrogate mother compensation that covers a maternity clothing allowance, childcare, and any lost wages you and your spouse (if applicable) incurred from missing work for surrogacy appointments. Any medical costs not covered by your insurance will be paid for by the intended parents and, depending on your contract, certain elements of the surrogacy medical process may allow for additional surrogate mother pay.

FAQs

Giving Angel Surrogate FAQ’s

What is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a legal and social arrangement between intended parents and a surrogate mother, who becomes pregnant through an embryo transfer and carries the pregnancy for the intended parents. The intended parents assume full parental rights, and the surrogate is compensated in exchange for her services.

Who works with a surrogate mother?

Surrogacy is an increasingly common choice for parents looking to add to their families. The following people might consider working with a surrogate:

  • People who have struggled with infertility
  • Prospective single parents
  • Same-sex couples
  • Anyone who is unable to safely carry a pregnancy to term

Can I pursue surrogacy as a single parent or same-sex couple?

Yes. Surrogacy can be a wonderful way for single parents and same-sex couples to add to their families. Look for a surrogacy agency who is a single parent and LGBT-friendly and who can meet your needs throughout the process.

Who are surrogates? How are surrogates screened?

Surrogates are women of all different backgrounds who want to help other prospective parents add to their families. While their situations can vary significantly, all surrogates must meet certain requirements before they can be matched with intended parents. Exact screening and eligibility requirements are determined by the agency you work with. Some common requirements for surrogates include:

Is it required that I have had a previous pregnancy & delivery before I become a gestational surrogate?

Yes. Being pregnant is unlike any other physical experience. You need to have gone through it once for yourself before you decide you are interested in being pregnant for someone else. It is also important that you have complete a pregnancy without any serious medical conditions. With gestational surrogacy, we are trying to find the most optimal situation and you successfully completing a health pregnancy and delivery Is one way to get us closer to that goal.

As a Gestational surrogate, am I genetically related to the baby?

No. Forward Fertility works with Gestational Surrogates. These are women who have healthy, strong, bodies that provide a sage and nourishing place for an embryo come from other people; either the Parents to be or possible donated from an egg or sperm donor. A true surrogate or traditional surrogate is a woman who provides the uterus and the egg. Due to more complicated legal and psychosocial issues, Yvision does not screen women for true surrogacy.

As a gestational Surrogate, is there anything required of my partner?

Yes. Partners play a big role in the support of a gestational surrogate. Of course, actually having the baby is the biggest role, but you need the support of your partner, too. There are four specific things your partner must be able to provide.

Infectious Disease Testing. Your husband or partner must agree to participate in medical screening. As we strive to create the most optimal environment for a pregnancy, we want to make sure no infections are present at the beginning. Avoiding any high risk behaviors is also important for your partner.

Relinquish rights of the child. If you are legally married, then your legal partner is a…

After I was done having my own children, I felt that even though my family was complete, I truly loved being pregnant and i was sad that I was done with that chapter in my life. A friend of mine told me she was going to become a surrogate and for days I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I thought it was such an amazing gift to give a deserving family. A few weeks after thinking it over I decided to start my  journey. Now, as a 2x surrogate I can say with all honesty that these experiences have been some of the best I’ve had in my life time. I unexpectedly become close with the parents and the agency I worked with and made life long relationships. There are no words to describe how rewarding it is to see the families happy and to watch theses babies grow. It’s such a wonderful feeling. I cannot wait to start my 3rd journey!

The adventure from Yvision welcoming me into their program, to meeting the Intended Parents, to finally watching them interact with their baby was simply indescribable. I feel truly honored to have taken this journey with such an amazing agency who was there for me every step of the way, even at the delivery of the babies. I can’t wait for my next surrogacy journey to bless another family or person, with the gift of life.
