Realities Of A Dream
After I was done having my own children, I felt that even though my family was complete, I truly loved being pregnant and i was sad that I was done with that chapter in my life. A friend of mine told me she was going to become a surrogate and for days I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I thought it was such an amazing gift to give a deserving family. A few weeks after thinking it over I decided to start my journey. Now, as a 2x surrogate I can say with all honesty that these experiences have been some of the best I’ve had in my life time. I unexpectedly become close with the parents and the agency I worked with and made life long relationships. There are no words to describe how rewarding it is to see the families happy and to watch theses babies grow. It’s such a wonderful feeling. I cannot wait to start my 3rd journey!

You were with us every step of the way in our surrogacy journey from the selection of a suitable surrogate to the delivery or our twins. You matched us and our surrogacy family perfectly in terms of personality traits, likes and dislikes and way of life. You made sure that we were aware of what was happening every step of the way from the testing of our surrogate for suitability to carry our twins, through to the embryo transfer and every ultrasound and doctor’s appointment that occurred up to the births at the hospital. Nothing was too much trouble for you. You even made sure that we had accommodation for our time in the States and that we made it successfully to and from the airport. We really can’t thank you enough for the amount of advocacy that you did for us, particularly with the hospital after the birth of the twins. You also helped to make us aware of the different options that we had in terms of insurance and cord blood storage for our babies. We really could not have done this without you because you had the know how and expertise of understanding the health system in the state whereas we did not have that knowledge and so without your personalized served we would have been lost. We never felt like a ‘client’ or a ‘number’. We felt more like a friend. I’ve worked as an attorney in the field of alternative reproduction for 20 years. When I turned 40, I knew I could no longer wait to have a child which had always been my life’s dream. When I realized my husband and I would need an egg donor to get pregnant, I immediately called Shelia. Shelia has an amazing way of making you feel taken care of. Even though I had been in ‘the business’ forever, it’s different when you become the client and feel immensely vulnerable. Shelia holds your hand, listens, and makes your dreams come true. She is soft when you need her to be and she gives you tough love when you need it. She really helped guide us in finding a doctor and selecting our egg donor. If you’ve never had to do it, it’s a strange process, but Shelia makes it feel human. We now have a beautiful baby boy who is the greatest joy in our life.
