Angles Steps

Angels Steps

1. Register with us online and complete our Pre-approval application to see if you meet all the criteria of becoming a Donor Angel. Once accepted, you will continue moving forward with the complete application, to create your online profile for our database. If for any reason your preapproval application is pending or rejected, one of our coordinators will contact you directly to discuss further.
2. Once your application has been reviewed, and preliminary qualifications are met, prospective egg donor will meet with an egg donor coordinator in-person or via our video conferencing system; for an interview. Once you have been placed in the donor database and selected, our donor coordinator will help make arrangements for you to meet with the parents IVF Doctor where they will go over all the medical details, including medications that you will use during the treatment cycle and how to administer them.
3. Once you have been notified of qualification, the questionnaire you completed, along with the photos you submitted, are placed on our donor database for recipients to review while selecting their donor. Some donors may be selected by a recipient couple immediately while others may not be selected for months. If at any time an egg donor decides not to participate in the program, she can simply notify the egg donor coordinator to be removed from our database.
4. Once selected by a recipient, we require all egg donors to see an Yvision approved psychologist and genetic counselor. The psychological interview will focus on the many complex moral, ethical, and psychosocial issues that confront egg donors. Your genetic consultation will help determine if you are a good candidate to become an egg donor.
5. Although donors remain anonymous and do not have any legal rights or obligations to any child born from treatment, all donors are required to sign consent forms for egg donation. The consent forms will clarify legal issues and describe the egg donation procedure including the risks. Consent forms must be signed for each donation cycle. Identities of the donors and recipients are never known to one another and are kept in strict confidentiality.
6. Once the donor has completed all screenings and been successfully matched with a recipient, the Nurse Coordinator will initiate the egg donation cycle based on both the recipients and donors menstrual cycles. In some case, birth control pills are used to line up cycles. Once this is accomplished, the fertility medication is started to stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs. Your two weeks of stimulation will not be easy nor will it be convenient but it is necessary that you commit to this process thoroughly and be available to attend all morning appointments (usually before 11am). The recipient couple is investing a great sum of money in their quest to make the dream of having a child a reality. Their dream is dependent on you.

Medical Overview

Medical Overview

After successful completion of genetic and psychological screening, the egg donor takes injections of fertility medications for roughly 8-12 days to help more eggs mature than would normally in a menstrual cycle. Donors are monitored throughout stimulation via hormone blood tests and vaginal ultrasounds to determine how well the medication is working and if the dosage is accurate. These tests typically require a minimum of 4 morning office visits. Once it is determined that the eggs are mature, the eggs are collected by inserting a thin ultrasound guided needle through the top of the vagina and into the ovarian follicle. The egg retrieval is a minor surgical procedure performed under anesthesia and takes approximately 20 minutes.

FAQs

Giving Angel Donor FAQ’s

How old do I have to be to donate my eggs?
We require our donor angels to be between the ages of 19 to 28 years of age, though exceptions are occasionally made for repeat donor angles between the ages of 29-31.

How much will I get paid to donate my eggs?
Our current egg donation compensation for your time, commitment and services is $7,000 on average for a completed egg donation cycle, for a first timer. You can earn up to $10,000+ depending on your qualifications and the number of eggs you produce.

How long does it take until I can donate my eggs?
It depends. After you complete your egg donor application, it typically takes a month or so for you to complete the interviews and preliminary testing. After that, whether and when you are matched with a recipient depends on what kind of egg donors our center’s patients are looking for at that time. Some donors may never be matched; other donors are matched almost immediately after they join our egg donor program.

Will I be more or less fertile after my egg donation?
You will be more fertile in the month following egg donation. After one month, you will return to your normal fertility status.

How does egg donation affect my fertility in the future?
Egg donation does not appear to have any long-term effects on your fertility.

How long does the egg donation process take?
The egg donation process from treatment start to retrieval takes approximately one month. The egg retrieval itself takes minutes.

What side effects should I expect to experience (if any) from taking fertility medication?
Most egg donors go through the process with no side effects; however, some may feel bloating, weight gain, pelvic discomfort or moodiness.

How will egg donation effect my personal lifestyle?
Once you are actively taking fertility drugs, you need to ensure that you restrain from sexual intercourse for that month and protected sexual intercourse the month following egg donation. From start to finish, you will generally have 6-10 doctor visits. The majority of these visits occur during the two weeks prior to egg retrieval. Donors living outside the area of your recipients IVF physicians office will need to allocate a minimum of 3 days, for travel and recovery, at the end of your donation cycle.

What is involved with taking infertility medication?
The medications you will need to take are injectables. You will be required to give yourself injections starting at one time per day and eventually up to 3 times per day. You will be taught and instructed by nurses how to self-inject safely. These Nurses are readily available 24hours a day for immediate contact.

Will I be put under general anesthesia for the egg retrieval?
We use intravenous (IV) sedation, which is administered by an anesthesiologist. Occasionally, you may experience short-term side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, sleepiness. Therefore, we instruct you to rest for 24 hours after egg donation. You are also required to be picked up by somebody after the egg donation and must not drive for 24 hours.

I love helping others, therefore my decision to become an egg donor was easy. My experience was amazing,
especially when I received the call that my parents would be having twins!

Courtney
Giving Angel Surrogate, California

In the beginning I applied to many agencies, but after my conversation and interview with the surrogacy coordinator, I knew this was the agency I wanted to work with. I was matched right away and the process was very smoothly. Just to see the parents faces when their little one arrived was an unforgettable moment.
